PENDLETON — Iron Horse Martial Arts of Pendleton started its tae kwon do rivals season by qualifying for a nationwide rivals On the AAU Michigan State Championship in Wayne, Michigan.

The March 12 event performed host to a doc 565 rivals. The 14-member Iron Horse group competed in level-sparring, Olympic sparring, breaking boards, poomsae and weapons.

The group ended up with 25 first-place finishes, Collectively with seven second-place and 5 third-place finishes.

All group members additionally licensed for the AAU National Taekwondo Championship, set for MGM Grand in Las Vegas in July.

The rivals group is led by sixth dan blackbelt Myron Gerber and third dan blackbelt Jack Wimmer. The group additionally will go on to compete in AAU’s Ohio and Indiana’s State Championships this season.
